3D NUMERICAL STUDY OF HYDROYNAMICS AROUND A MONOPILE FOUNDATION UNDER COMBINED WAVE CURRENT EFFECT

A numerical investigation of hydrodynamics around a monopile foundation is presented in the paper. An open-source CFD program REEF3D used for present study. The model solves Reynolds-averaged Naiver-Stokes equation with k-w turbulence closure to obtain flow hydrodynamics. code utilizes staggered cartesian grid system. Also, Message Passing Interface (MPI) based parallelization domain decomposition. In order ensure precision field, first validated four different combined wave-current scenarios, where currents and waves are following each other. results obtained from validation studies exhibit good agreement already reported experimental results. Initially, convergence study has been performed that Numerical wave tank independent mesh size. Finally, experiments corresponding cases steepness simulated using code.
